How will you attract physicians and staff to work in this new model?
MAHC has partnerships with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM), York University, and Toronto Metropolitan University, which will help train new Physicians and medical professionals and connect them with employment opportunities.
The new model better supports staff recruitment and retention by enabling healthcare professionals to work more consistently within their preferred areas of practice. By grouping services and aligning care teams, staff can focus on the specialties they are trained in and passionate about. For example, an obstetrics nurse would have the opportunity to work primarily within the Obstetrics department, rather than rotating across unrelated units. This not only supports skill development and job satisfaction but also helps create more cohesive teams and a higher standard of patient care.
State-of-the-art facilities, specialized units, and the new Surgical Centre of Excellence will also make the new hospital sites appealing to medical professionals.
Will there be enough work for physicians?
Yes, there will be ample work for physicians, supported by diverse practice opportunities, specialized units in Huntsville, and a Surgical Centre of Excellence in Bracebridge, all designed to meet a broad range of healthcare needs.
How will you address current and future staffing shortages?
Current and future staffing shortages will be addressed through collaboration with educational institutions for recruitment, ongoing engagement with the Muskoka Algonquin Health Team for sustainable recruitment strategies, and the creation of attractive work environments with advanced facilities and diverse practice opportunities.
